Building the Future #NAW2022

We’re supporting National Apprenticeship Week 2022 by highlighting the work of our two apprentices.

Amy Davies and Callum Little joined Donghua in 2021 to work in our busy Wolverhampton sales office undertaking a range of internal sales administration tasks. We’ve asked Amy and Callum to share what it’s like being an apprentice at Donghua.

Amy says: “Working at Donghua has been a great experience so far. The friendly environment has made the transition from college to work easy and welcoming. Everyone is friendly and always offers a helping hand if I’m stuck.”

“Through my apprenticeship work I have learnt how to value my own skills and how they contribute to the workplace, about the importance of communication, interpersonal skills and decision making and how the different stakeholders support the business. My skills and knowledge continue to grow as I take on new tasks and learn new things about chain every day.”

Callum says: “I have been working at Donghua for just over seven months and I haven’t looked back! Since becoming an apprentice soon after leaving school, my eyes have been opened to what exactly is involved in a successfully-run business, especially in an industry which I didn’t even know existed.”

“In my time here so far, my manager Claire has supported me in many ways. This includes teaching me about all the different types of chain we manufacture, how to speak with customers over the phone and producing customer quotes, all of which has given me more confidence. Getting used to being in an office environment five days a week was a dramatic change for me considering only one month prior to joining Donghua I was at secondary school! I’m very much enjoying my apprenticeship.”

Our apprentices joined through Nova Training and regularly meet with their assessor to review how they are doing at work and set assignments for their Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration course.

Over recent years, Donghua has supported the apprenticeship scheme by training a number of apprentices offering full time positions when they have completed the scheme.

We’re proud to support National Apprenticeship Week 2022 and play a role in helping to build the future.
